What can $1.1 billion buy you?

Posted: February 19, 2012 in Uncategorized

The current annual budget of the CBC is $1.1 billion. Discussions surrounding the need to have a public broadcaster got me thinking about what $1.1 billion per year could buy…

1. An MRI machine roughly costs three million to purchase. Setting aside some funds to operate the machines, Canadians could buy about 300 MRI machines in the first year. Little Mosque on the Prairie or no wait list for imaging diagnostics? Year one without the CBC solves the diagnostic imaging wait list problem.

2. Year two without the CBC could solve the water treatment problem on Native reserves across all of Canada. In 1995, $560 million was committed to upgrade the water and sewer services in First Nations communities. While it is hard to put a concrete number on what constitutes a solution to this problem, one can assume that $1.1 billion would be a huge step in the right direction. Whether or not Canadians can forgo not watching “Mr. D” is another matter entirely.

3. Year three without the CBC could build a complete subway line in Toronto. Six kilometers of subway costs roughly $1 billion to build. Whether or not Canadians can endure watching CTV’s evening news instead of “The National” is beyond me.

Lefties often argue about how wasteful the proposed fighter jet purchase is. But they NEVER complain about the use of tax dollars to create countless television programs that NOBODY WATCHES. Why? Because the CBC has an inherent and blatant left wing bias and, as such, has become a vital tool for the advancement of the “progressive” agenda.

Bill C-30 Exposes the Hypocrisy of the Left

Posted: February 19, 2012 in Uncategorized

Thank God for Sun News. Ezra hits the nail on the head yet again…

What a pleasure to see Canada’s consensus media so concerned about the erosion of privacy and civil liberties under a proposed new crime law called Bill C-30, introduced by Public Safety Minister Vic Toews.

Government snooping didn’t bother the media pack when it came in the form of the long-form census and its invasive personal questions — to be forcibly answered on pain of fines and even prison.

It didn’t bother the media pack when personal data was collected from farmers and duck hunters for the firearms registry (including information about their romantic lives and medical history).

And the media pack didn’t sympathize when consenting adults tried to sell wheat to each other in the privacy of their own homes. The Wheat Board’s Soviet-style monopoly was more important.

But the fight against child pornography has Canada’s press in high dudgeon.

English Media Silence

Posted: February 14, 2012 in Uncategorized

Yes, you read that headline correctly. Trudeau could support Quebec separating from Harper’s Canada. Ideology trumps patriotism. It is more important to be a socialist than a patriot. This would be headline news in every single English speaking media outlet in Canada if a conservative was involved. Instead we get nothing.

Ethnic Media Wants to Accelerate Ghettoization of Canada

Posted: February 12, 2012 in Uncategorized

MONTREAL – Canada’s increasingly influential ethnic-press industry will seek a financial boost from the upper levels of government to better its business and journalistic know-how.
While minority-language publications remain anonymous to most Canadians, their combined readership is in the millions — more than the country’s largest daily newspapers.
The ethnic press also wields clout inside the Prime Minister’s Office, where, more than ever, the industry is viewed as a coveted conduit to the multicultural vote.

If there is anything that binds a country together it is language. These ethnic media organizations want tax dollars to help their growth. The growth in ethnic media simply delays the integration of immigrants. In particular, it lessens the requirement to learn the native language. I suspect that the government will cave to these demands in order not to anger the ethnic media but let’s not kid ourselves, it is bad public policy no matter how you look at it.

Consensus Media Ignores CBC Porn Story

The consensus media strikes again…

Thank goodness for Sun News

UPDATE: I was just watching HNIC on CBC (the only CBC show I watch) and there was a commercial for something called “Mr. D” which was called “marvelous” by the National Post. Is it a coincidence that the CBC announced a major advertising initiative with the National Post a few months ago? Tax dollars are used by the CBC to buy positive coverage by the other media outlets. There are other factors at play but that’s the most obvious one.

Native peace. Aboriginal chiefs, otherwise known as native mafia leaders, state that an aboriginal uprising is inevitable if Harper doesn’t listen. And by “listen” they mean pour more money into the money pit. Is anyone else (who gets up at 7am every morning to WORK) getting tired of this glorified welfare?

Since when does your date of arrival entitle you to perpetual welfare. Treat all Canadians EQUALLY!

The Globe and Mail: Required Reading for Anti-Semites

Posted: January 23, 2012 in Uncategorized

I don’t usually read the comments section of news articles on the CBC or Globe and Mail because they are filled with anti-Conservative vitriol that raises my blood pressure. But, after reading an article entitled “Assassinate Obama if he won’t attack Iran for Israel, Jewish monthly suggests”, I just couldn’t resist glimpsing at the anti-Semitism of the Globe’s readership. And I was not disappointed. To summarize the article, a Jewish-American writing for an obscure monthly newsletter out of Atlanta suggests that one of three options available to Israel should the USA not stop Iran from “wiping Israel off the map” would be to assassinate the president. Pretty stupid and crazy to actually advocate that but to suggest that it might be something being discussed in some circles isn’t any crazier than suggesting that the Jews were responsible for 9/11. Anyway, without further ado, here you go…

That asinine comment got a score of 225!

Because, apparently, this Jewish guy represents the state of Israel.

I’d hate to think what this guy would do with a can of poison gas in a room of Jews.

So the PRESIDENT of Iran wants to “wipe Israel off the map” and is very close to having nuclear weapons and Israel is the aggressor?!?

1268 comments. And most of the them have the same anti-Semitic tone.

To the Globe and Mail and its community of followers I say… Hitler would be proud!

2015 – Will we win again?

Posted: January 23, 2012 in Uncategorized

I’m hearing lots of Liberals talk about “3 more years” of Harper. The more I think about it though the more I like our chances to win another majority. Here are my reasons why…

1. Seat realignment should net us another 10 seats
2. An aging population – statistically speaking older people are more conservative
3. The Obama disaster – he has bankrupted the USA and destroyed their economy. Big government has been proven a failed experiment.
4. Government cuts – bureaucrats vote Liberal. But once they lose their cushy government jobs and find private sector employment they will be less likely to vote Liberal.
5. Sun News
6. Government infrastructure – the CPC has appointed hundreds (if not thousands) of people to various posts at various levels of government. They have influence.
7. Fundraising – no more government subsidy and other changes to partisan fundraising play against the Liberals.

The wild card in all of this however is a Liberal merger with the NDP – though I think the logistics of the merger mean that they won’t be an effective unified force in time for 2015 unless they merge this year.

New laws the CPC should enact

Posted: December 17, 2011 in Uncategorized

Upon learning that the opposition and Canadian courts are hearing a case to prevent the disbanding of the Canadian Wheat Board because a prior law existed that said it couldn’t be disbanded without a plebiscite, I have decided that the CPC should pass the following laws…

1. No future government can pass a tax increase without first having a plebiscite.

2. No future government can run a deficit without getting the permission of the Canadian population through a plebiscite.

3. No future government can pass ANY law without having a plebiscite.

The whole concept of handcuffing future governments with laws that can’t be changed without jumping through hoops is silly. Admit defeat Canadian Wheat Board. Your communist entity is now history! I love the smell of freedom!
